Field Practice Area (FPA) of the National Institute of Health Sciences is governed by the Deputy Director of Field Services (DDFS) whose designation is on par with that of the Regional Director of Health Services (RDHS) of a district. NIHS FPA consists of two Medical Officer of Health (MOH) areas (Kalutara and Beruwala). NIHS FPA provides services for more than three hundred thousand population for their preventive, curative, and palliative health needs. In addition, most of the practical training sessions are carried out in the FPA-NIHS.
