About Us
The National Institute of Health Sciences (NIHS) is the premier public health institute in Sri Lanka, with a rich history dating back to its establishment on July 1, 1926. Initially launched as the first health unit in Southeast Asia, located in Kalutara, NIHS has been a cornerstone in the healthcare landscape of Sri Lanka. Its primary mandate is to train health manpower for the nation, while also providing primary healthcare services to the surrounding population.
